„Eden” awarded at the Oscar-qualifying festival!

Our film „Eden” (dir. Marta Szymanek) awarded at the Oscar-qualifying festival! The short produced by the Warsaw Film School was chosen the Best Student Film at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles!

Every year HollyShorts Film Festival appears on the list of Top 50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee by MovieMaker magazine. Three years ago, at this festival, we presented our Oscar-nominated „The Dress” (dir. Tadeusz Łysiak). Among the creators of „Eden” are the filmmakers who worked on this famous production: our graduates and lecturers, cinematographer Konrad Bloch and editor Mariusz Gos.

The heroine of the awarded film, 17-year-old Mila, the daughter of border smugglers, decides to end her life. Things get complicated when a Syrian refugee unexpectedly appears. A young and tenacious man, in contrast to the girl, fights with for survival.

The next festival stop for „Eden” – the Gdynia Film Festival! The production, along with our other three productions: „Metallic Taste” (dir. Ivan Krupenikov), „My Old Gals” (dir. Natasza Parzymies) and „These Damn Peonies” (dir. Polina Biliaieva) will take part in the Short Film Competition there.
