We are accepting applications for the MODERN FILMMAKING degree programme.

Starting from the second year, the programme offers two specialisations: DIRECTING & AI and CINEMATOGRAPHY & AI.

 In the first year, all students follow the same set of core courses.

After completing the first year, each student chooses one of the two specialisations to pursue in the later stages of their degree.

 

 

HOW TO APPLY?

 

STEP 1 | Fill in the form and entry interview online

 

In order to join Warsaw Film School please fill in the form WFS - sign up for an Entry Interview and attach the following:

  • proof of application fee (30 EUR)
  • motivation letter addressed to the Rector of Warsaw Film School, describing your educational background, work experience and interests; it should contain candidate’s name and surname, phone number and e-mail address
  • Artistic work:

Mandatory assignments:
1. Photostory: 7 photos telling a story - a distinctive main character who has a problem. The story should have a beginning, development, and ending. Photos in horizontal mode only.
2. Film project on any topic, preferably one that best defines the candidate (max. 5 minutes).
We will be evaluating: storytelling, composition, and light character.
Note: videos must also be in horizontal mode only.
Additionally: other personal works for example: drawings, animations, photos.

 

Once we receive the form and attachments, we will contact you to inform you of the date of the recruitment interview online.

The interview is usually hosted by one of our film directing professor, Mr Marek Brodzki and the school's specialist in recruitment and international cooperation. Mostly we ask about your film inspirations, the work samples that you sent us as well as some basic questions connected to film knowledge and story telling. It usually takes 10 to 15 minutes and we inform you about the results directly during the interview or within few days. All interviews are held in English.

 

 

 

 

STEP 2 | Admission announcement and contract signing

 

Within 3 days of the interview, you will be notified by the admissions officer whether you have been accepted to the program.

Within 7 days of receiving the admission decision, you will be required to sign a contract with the university.

 

 

 

 

STEP 3 | Documents submission

Within 14 days of signing the contract, you will be asked to complete a full online registration and upload the required documents:
1) Original high school diploma or an official duplicate and transcript of records issued by the candidate's high school or notary proved copies (matriculation document with grades)
2) Translation of a foreign high school diploma into Polish or English
3) Written information from the director of NAWA about the educational certificate confirming eligibility to apply for studies OR the decision on recognition of the certificate issued by the Office of Education in Poland - not applicable to International Baccalaureate (IB), European Baccalaureate (EB) or certificates issued in European Union, EFTA, OECD, China and Ukraine

4) Copy of a national ID or passport. The image must show your clear face picture and the document number.
5) Proof of payment of the enrolment fee (1000 EUR)
6) A Digital photo (should meet passport photos requirements; size 300x375 pixels, .jpg file, max. 50 kB)

7) Certificate confirming proficiency in English level B2 or higher: 

  • IELTS Academic certificate – at least 6,5 overall band;
  • TOEFL iBT certificate - at least 87 points;
  • TOEIC certificate – at least 785 points in 'Listening & Reading' and 150 points in 'Speaking' and 160 points in 'Writing'
  • LanguageCert (PeopleCert Qualifications (PCQ)): LanguageCert International ESOL Communicator B2 (4-skill exam) or higher, LanguageCert Academic B2 or higher, LanguageCert Test of English B2 or higher;


List of other accepted certificates:

  • Cambridge certificates: B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), B2 Business
  • Vantage (BEC Vantage), C1 Business Higher, Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT);
  • Pearson Assessment English: Pearson English International Certificate - Level 3, Pearson Test of English Academic - at least 59 points;
  • LCCI certificates: English for Business Level 2 or higher, Foundation Certificate for Teachers of Business English (FTBE);
  • European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages – Level B2 (Vantage) or higher;
  • telc GmbH certificates: Certificate in English, Certificate in English for Business Purposes, Certificate in English for Technical Purposes, telc English, telc English Business, telc English Technical, telc English University;
  • Trinity College London: ESOL Skills for Life – Level 1 (B2) or higher, Integrated Skills in English (ISE) – ISE II or higher, ISE Digital – above 80 points (B2)

Applicants may be exempt from submitting a certificate of English proficiency if they meet any of the following conditions:

  • Obtained at least 95% at the basic level or 80% at the extended level in
  • English on the Polish Matura exam;
  • Hold an International Baccalaureate (IB) or European Baccalaureate (EB) high school diploma or completed bachelor/master degree in English in an EU or EFTA country, or in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand

All documents are required to be in pdf format.

Documents not in Polish must be translated either by:

  • a Polish sworn translator, or
  • a sworn translator registered in any of EU, EFTA or OECD country
  • a Polish consul in the country where the certificate was issued
  • an embassy or consulate of the country which issued the certificate or in which educational system the school operates located on the territory of Poland

Enrolment fee: 1000 EUR

Tuition: 8000 EUR per academic year (1 instalment), 8500 EUR per academic year (2 instalments of 4250 EUR)

VISA INFORMATION

   

VISA – Study Permit

If you are a student from a non-EU country admitted to Warsaw Film School, you will need to apply for a D-type Visa (a long-term national visa national issued for up to one year). For more information: https://study.gov.pl/visa-application

The list of required documents when applying for a D-type visa:

  • A travel document (passport document);
  • A filled out and signed visa application (https://secure.e-konsulat.gov.pl/);
  • A valid photograph (biometric);
  • A proof of visa payment;
  • A medical travel insurance whose coverage amounts to not less than EUR 30,000, and covering all expenses that may arise in connection with the need to return for medical reasons, a medical emergency, urgent hospitalisation or death, or medical insurance within the meaning of Polish regulations on health care benefits financed out of public funds;

Supporting documents:

  • A document confirming the purpose of travel and conditions of stay;
  • A document confirming possession of adequate financial resources to cover the costs of living during the planned stay and to cover the costs of return to the country of origin or residence, or to cover the costs of transit to a third country, which will certainly give permission for entry, or documents confirming that the applicant can legally obtain such funds;
  • A document that permits to assess that the applicant will leave the territory of the Republic of Poland before the visa expires;
  • Other documents that confirm other circumstances referred to in the visa application.

Supporting documents may be different depending on the country where a visa application is submitted.
