LE CASE DE MICOL
The Houses of Micol: A European Project for Memory
The "Le Case di Micol” project, supported by the European CERV - European Remembrance 2023 programme, has been launched.
The Blow-up Academy is participating in the initiative with an international consortium that includes cultural organizations from Italy, Poland, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. Partners include institutions such as Ferrara La Città del Cinema, the Fondazione per il Centro Studi Città di Orvieto, the MEIS – Museo Nazionale dell’Ebraismo Italiano e della Shoah, the Blow-up Academy, the Giorgio Bassani Foundation, the Institute of Contemporary History, the L. Einaudi Institute of Higher Education in Ferrara, the Warsaw Film Institute in Warsaw, the Lindt Cinact Film School, the Prague Film School and the Warsaw Film School.
Our contribution to the project was the production of the film “Leonora”, directed by our graduates, Jędrzej Gorski and Mateusz Motyka. The film tells the story of the grandmother of cinematographer and our lecturer, Andrzej Wolf - the woman formed a relationship with a Jewish man from a family with different values. The cinematography was handled by another of our graduates, Filip Pasternak, and the project was coordinated by Piotr Gorszczyński, a Polish film editor and also a lecturer at the Warsaw Film School.

"Le Case di Micol" was born with the intention of remembering not only the tragedies of the Holocaust, but also the daily lives of love, beauty, and hope that Jewish families experienced before deportation. The project aims to restore voice and dignity to those shattered lives, through a story that celebrates peace and humanity.
The Blow-up Academy plays a key role in developing an interactive map, which will be created thanks to the research of students from participating schools in various countries. This tool will represent a fundamental step in deepening understanding of the Holocaust and its consequences, even today.

The project is funded by the European Commission under the CERV 2023 program.
